July's new baby hummingbirds!

In July the Ruby Red Throat hummingbird babies come off the nest
and are looking for nectar!
One dawn we arose to see so many new beautiful little
baby hummingbirds at the two feeders at our home.
The way I was told you identify the new baby birds
are the white spots at the tips of their tail!

The males will not have a complete red neck when they are babies
but will have a tiny dot of red..that will later become
an entire bib of red under his chin area..

I keep my hummingbird food fresh and make it myself.
In this heat you have to rinse the feeder out every 4 days
and fill it with fresh food.

I put one 1/4 cup of white sugar to 3/4 cup of water
I stir it well, bring to a slight boil and set the pot off
and let it cool. I usually make about 15 cups at one time..

I fill the feeders and the remainder is put into a jar in the
refrigerator to use next time..

Children enjoying the carousel!

Children on a Carousel!

Children on a carousel!

Children always seem to amuse me in that there is one
in the crowd who will start a conversation with me.

One little boy with red hair climbs on the lion
and looks at me with my camera and says

You know
he is the king of the jungle, don't you?

I said , yes he is and may I take your photograph
riding the King of the Jungle, the lion?

This little red headed boy reminded me of my nephew
Stacy..when he was that age...I came into the family
when Stacy was the age of this outspoken little boy!

There was a little girl who loved the elephant,
who pretended to be in the air riding Dumbo!

There was a boy who loved the Sea Horse,
and others
that waved at me and were excited..to ride the
carousel!

Laughter is so good for one's soul!

My soul recieved some joy today and I hope
you get joy in your soul...

from these children's photographs!

A cat and his master's shoes!

This is Bro.
Bro loves his master's shoes..
There may be 3 pairs
of different styles of shoes in the room.
Bro chooses a pair, puts his foot in one until
he finds a pair that suits him!
He will take his toy at times and put it in the shoe
then fall asleep on the shoes.

Mansions of the South!

Old Mansions of the South!

In small towns in Alabama you pass by some lovely old southern
homes.

Some are restored and being occupied by a family, they have life
in the home... and some
have vines and weeds growing up around them and are in neglect.

It makes my imagination come alive thinking of who played on the
banister of the winding staircases, who slid down them, who sat on
the steps of the front porches and posed for a photograph many
years ago.

I wonder who cooked in the large kitchens and who brought the firewood
in to the fireplaces...
